Want to share an Internet connection among multiple computers
Want to share files between multiple computers
Desktop too far from cable/phone hookup

Wireless Security Configuration


Continue to Maintain Anti-Virus on your desktop
Make sure your PCs wireless card support the same security features as your gateway/AP
Use 128-bit WEP
For new gateways configure WPA – (Preferred)
Change the default SSID regularly
Disable Remote Access to Wireless Router
Change the default password to the Wireless Gateway/Router
Turn off ESSID Broadcasting if possible
Extra Credit: Use static IP addresses
Extra Credit: Configure MAC address filtering and use static IP addressing for extra security
